The Outside Course System: Historical Modules outwith the Department
Unlike most of the UK's Universities, Edinburgh, as part of its four-year degree system, actively encourages students to take courses outside their chosen degree subject area. For single honours History, this amounts to 40 credits, or a third of your total first and second year modules and for many students, it can be a great opportunately to greatly expand your breadth of knowledge. But, for many of us, who prefer a narrower degree focus, the whole idea of the outside course system can be rather intimidating. However, there are ways to cheat the system as, believe it or not, interesting History-based courses can be found outside of the department.
